Billy Connolly
Billy Connolly was born in Glasgow 24th of November 1942. He went to school in St Peter’s Boys School. He left his school to work in Shipyards and was a welder.
He was in the parachute regiment for the territorial army. During that time, his love for folk music begun to entice him into playing the banjo. He joined a band called Humblebums led by the soon to be famous Gerry Rafferty.
He told jokes between songs and it soon became his full time job. He became a big star in Scotland and became famous throughout the UK after his appearance on the hit T.V show Parkinson.
Throughout the Seventies, The Big Yin (his nickname) released many recordings of his songs including his famous DIVORCE.
He made two documentaries about Scotland and Australia respectfully.
He has now featured in many comedy films and television shows since.
